Team Points Scoring
The 2027 Zacker Adventures Navigational Rally Series Team Championship rewards consistent performance and participation across all five rounds. Team points are based on the official championship points earned by individual riders.
Team Size and Classes
Each team must have at least 3 riders and no more than 6 riders. Teams may include a mix of Rally and ADV class riders. Each rider earns individual points within the class in which they officially compete; these earned points may also contribute to their team's score. Team scoring does not combine or transfer a rider's individual class standings.
Season Participation Requirements
Every rider on the team must compete in at least two rounds of the 2027 Rally Series. The team must participate in every round: Sandhills Rally, Coal Miners Rally, Bluegrass Rally Raid, Ridge Runner Rally, and the ZA Rally Final.
Fewer than three team riders may compete at a round. At least one team rider must start official competition for the team to participate in that round. A DNF counts as having started; a DNS does not count as participation. Registering without starting does not satisfy a participation requirement.
Championship eligibility requires both the team's participation in all five rounds and each team rider's participation in at least two rounds. Season standings remain provisional until these requirements are verified.
How Team Points Are Calculated
First, add each team rider's official daily championship points for that round. Rank the riders by their round totals. Only the three highest rider totals count toward the team's points for that round. The scoring riders may change from one round to the next.
Team Round Points = highest rider round total + second-highest rider round total + third-highest rider round total.
If only one or two riders compete, count their earned points and use zero for each unfilled scoring slot. Scores from a fourth, fifth or sixth rider do not add to the team's round total. Select the top three using complete round totals, rather than selecting a different top three on each competition day.
Team Championship Total = sum of the team's points across all five rounds. Every round counts.
Individual Points Used for Team Scoring
Daily points follow the Individual Rider Points Scoring rules: 1st—25; 2nd—22; 3rd—20; 4th—18; 5th—16; 6th—15; 7th—14; 8th—13; 9th—12; 10th—11; 11th—10; 12th—9; 13th—8; 14th—7; 15th and below—3.
A rider who starts but does not finish receives 2 points for that competition day. A rider who does not start receives 0 points. Riders retain points already earned before withdrawing. Official adjusted results include navigation, checkpoint and roadbook requirements and any penalties assessed by Rally Officials.
Round Scoring Examples
A five-rider team earns round totals of 47, 42, 38, 24 and 18. The team's score is 47 + 42 + 38 = 127 points. The fourth and fifth riders' points remain in their individual standings but do not add to the team's round score.
If only two team riders compete and earn 40 and 24 points, the team scores 40 + 24 + 0 = 64 points.
Team Championship Tie Breakers
If teams finish the season tied on championship points, apply the following in order:
-
Most team round victories, determined by team round points.
-
Most second-place team round finishes.
-
Most third-place team round finishes.
-
Higher team points total at the ZA Rally Final.
-
Lowest total accumulated penalties among the riders whose scores counted toward the team's round totals.
-
Decision of the Rally Director.
Rally Officials determine the official results, verify participation requirements, and resolve scoring or eligibility questions.
